Continental Virtual Dialogue: Empowering Women in Science (WiS) 27 November 2025 | 14:00–17:30 EAT
he Ministry of Innovation and Technology of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE), in collaboration with the African Union (AU) and UNESCO, is convening a high-level Continental Virtual Dialogue on Empowering Women in Science (WiS) on 27 November 2025. This strategic, single-day virtual gathering aims to strengthen political commitment and forge impactful partnerships that advance gender equity in science, technology, and innovation (STI) across Africa.
Objectives of the Virtual Dialogue
As part of the roadmap toward the 2026 Continental Women in Science Conference, the dialogue seeks to achieve the following outcomes:
• Mobilization and Visibility
Showcase the groundbreaking research and innovations of African women scientists, enhancing their visibility at continental and global levels.
• Policy Translation
Transform the commitments of the Addis Ababa Communiqué into concrete, context-specific policy priorities for national governments and research institutions.
• Partnership and Resource Mobilization
Engage governments, private-sector actors, and development partners early to secure financial and technical pledges that advance the women-in-science agenda.
• Actionable Opportunities
Provide participants with direct access to funding, mentorship, training, and career development pathways through a dedicated Virtual Marketplace.
