H.E Yishurun Alemayehu (Ph.D) said that Ethiopia should use modern technology to increase the economic benefit it gets from manufacturing industry.

Ethiopian Mechanical Engineers Association has held its 27th annual panel discussion with the theme "Improving manufacturing agility and sustainability through smart technology and human centered design".

The Minister of Innovation and Technology, Dr. Yishurun Alemayehu, who was present at the meeting, stated that the government is working on many jobs in the manufacturing sector to boost the economic growth of our country, not only to create job opportunities in the manufacturing sector, but to build a system that enables all actors to actively participate.

Digital Ethiopia 2025 Strategy One of the key sectors to build a digital economy is manufacturing industry especially when the world is entering Industry 5.0 the Ethiopian manufacturing industry needs to use digital technology to reach the stage where the global economic growth has reached, not only the government but all the government has cooperated with the modern technology and digital. They have realized that it is necessary to create a competent and active society by enhancing and using the skills of the sector.

The president of Ethiopian Mechanical Engineers Association Dr. Muaz Bedru has said that in order to increase manufacturing productivity and sustainability such as Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Organized Data Analysis with human centered principles, it is necessary to combine engineering ideas and design principles to create better production processes.

Aklewum has stated that it has an important role in creating sustainable and efficient manufacturing industry by reducing wastage in production processes and enabling better working environment.

The forum discussed the overall activities of the association and selected key agendas and it was stated that the contact time should be increased to strengthen the cooperation.
