The achievements of Digital Ethiopia 2025 has created a convenient situation to expand digital transport and logistics services in Ethiopia”. H.E Minister Dr. Belete Molla

A workshop titled "Digital aided Transport and Logistics" was held in which representatives of relevant government institutions, development partners, industry leaders and experts participated.

During the event, H.E Minister Dr.Bele Molla, Ministry of Innovation and Technology  said that the success of Digital Ethiopia 2025 has created a convenient situation to expand digital transport and logistics services in Ethiopia.

The minister said digital transport and logistics works are the center of this change regarding digital transformation. It is the phase where he has transitioned to digital Ethiopia 2030, which will make it convenient to bring comprehensive and continuous digital development.

Major improvements have been seen over the past years including the implementation of the strategy, expansion of digital transport platform and upgrading services such as online fuel payment, smart parking, traffic management systems.

The program was organized by ICT Association Ethiopia (ICT-ET) and the United Nations International Trade Center (UNITC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Innovation and Technology. The coordinator of the United Nations International Business Center (UNITC) Ethiopia Mr. Samuel Fekade mentioned that the African Continental Free Trade Zone is shaping the trade system in the continent and leading Ethiopia as its founding member. They said she has both responsibility and opportunity.

Mr. Samuel who said digital systems, smart logistics and active private sector participation is needed to make this a success, digital aided transport and logistics work needs cooperation between private institutions, partners and ministry of innovation and technology and ministry of transport and logistics.

He said that it is necessary to work hard to bridge the gap between the public and private sectors to enhance Africa's digital and future trade exchange especially in innovation and policy.

The seminar aims to explore the methods and experiences that enable digital transformation works in the field of transport and logistics to provide concrete policy suggestions and partnerships that will inform Ethiopia's future digital development of transport and logistic.
