A training program was held to increase capacity in space diplomacy, policy and management in Africa H.E sate Minister for ICT and Digital Economy Yeshurun Alemayehu (PhD)

The Ethiopian Space Science and Geospatial Institute, in collaboration with the African Space Leadership Institute and the Nigerian Embassy, ​​has launched a training program to increase space capacity in Africa.

The training course aims to increase the potential of international cooperation, information sharing, promotion of common goals, space exploration and innovation.

The State Minister for ICT and Digital Economy ,H.E Yeshurun Alemayehu (PhD), emphasized that satellite technology contributes to science, from communication methods, weather monitoring, disaster management and technological developments to space safety and the search for distant planets to space research.

Through international cooperation, capacity building and Africa's space strategy, we are shaping the future in which space activities will promote the development of our continent. The Honorable Sate Minister  said that the inclusion of space in the African Union's Agenda 2063 highlights the importance of space technologies for the social, economic, political and scientific development of Africa.

At the event, Vice Director General of Space Science and Geospatial Institute Abdrezaq Umer mentioned that Ethiopia is working to become a country with better capabilities in the space sector by investing heavily in space infrastructure and human resource development.

The founder of the African Space Leadership Institute, Mr. Erim Offiong, emphasized that having a better knowledge has an important role in increasing Africa's space capacity and meaningful participation in the international space community.

He pointed out that it is designed to effectively engage with international space organizations, create meaningful collaborations and help Africa to be at the forefront of the global space economy with the knowledge, skills and strategy.
