World Robot Olympiad should solve the problems of the society.
The Ministry of Innovation and Technology held a joint discussion with Addis Ababa University of Science and Technology, Steampower and the UN. The conversation is about working together to strengthen science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). In the discussion, the Minister of Innovation and Technology, Dietta, Dr. Yeshurun Alemayehu, said that science, technology, engineering and mathematics should be given attention to create creative works that solve the problems of the society. The experience of developed countries shows that their focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) has helped them to achieve rapid growth and that they are working with special attention so that their development is not hindered. It was stated in the discussion that the increasing number of Ethiopians participating in various technology-related competitions on behalf of Ethiopia is enabling the sector to work effectively. It makes sense to work closely with projects such as World Robotics to directly address community needs and problems. In particular, the 5 million coders program recently announced by the Prime Minister is said to be the result of this Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) program. Minister DETAU mentioned in the discussion that the ministry is working on policies and strategies for the development of this sector.
