The 9th meeting of the Ethiopia-Russia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Trade Cooperation concluded today with the adoption of the meetingโs agreed minutes and the signing of the Results of Bilateral Negotiations between the two countries on the Accession of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia to the World Trade Organization as well as the Protocol on the extension of their Scientific and Technological Cooperation that was initially signed for the Period 2013-2017.
On the Ethiopian side, Belete Molla, Co- Chair of the Intergovernmental Commission and Minister of Innovation and Technology of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia signed the documents in the presence of other Ethiopian officials, including Bruk Taye, CEO of the Ethiopian Investment Holdings, Engineer Takele Uma, CEO of the Ethio-Djibouti Railway Share Company and Engineer Hilina Belachew, CEO of the Ethiopian Railway Corporation.
During the meeting, the implementation of the decisions made at the 8th meeting of the Joint Commission held on 8 December 2022 was reviewed and constructive recommendations were suggested by both parties to effectively execute them in the years ahead. In the agreed minutes, a range of bilateral cooperation, from economic to finance as well as from energy technology to transport were covered with a view to deepen and broaden the bilateral relations for the benefit of the peoples of both countries.
The Parties also agreed to hold the 10th Session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission in Ethiopia in 2026.
