Dire Dawa University has conducted a workshop on building a mechanical engineering community to build a sustainable and strong national technology development.

College of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering aims to raise society's awareness about mechanical engineering and to create a technological revolution in the field.

The state  minister of innovation and technology H.E Dr. Yishurun Alemayehu, who attended the seminar organized by Dire Dawa University, stated that mechanical engineering knowledge should be used in order to strengthen the technology innovation in our country.

The state minister said that mechanical engineering knowledge and expertise has contributed a lot behind the technological achievements, has realized that in the time when the world is moving towards the fifth industrial revolution, in order to create opportunities for our country to be competitive and benefited in the field, we need to work with cooperation and a well-educated platform.

The president of Dire Dawa University, Dr. Ubah Adem, has stated that engineering plays a significant role in fulfilling the basic needs of humans, improving the livelihoods and creating sustainable development opportunities.

We should strengthen the capacity of mechanical engineering and use it for the holistic development of the country.

Ministry of Innovation and Technology, Addis Ababa Science and Technology University and Ethiopian Mechanical Engineers Association have attended the seminar held at Dire Dawa University.
