The Space Science and Geospatial Institute submitted to the Police Commission of Addis Ababa the results of a study indicating the analysis and prediction of the geographic distribution of crime in Addis Ababa. Mr. Abdisa Yilma, Director General of the Space Science and Geospatial Institute, attended the Commission's headquarters and handed over the results of the study to Commissioner Getu Argau. The leaders and experts of the institute who participated in the study gave an explanation about the content of the work; He stated that the study aims to perform analysis and forecasting activities by combining statistical data with spatial data related to crime performance in the city. He explained that the results of the study were able to indicate places where repeated crimes are committed, time, type of crime and demographic information of the perpetrators. In addition, to make police crime prevention more effective; It is stated that the results of the study will be used to indicate the areas where police stations will be built in the future, to determine the direction of patrol and police personnel deployment, and to identify areas that require special surveillance by CCTV. Mr. Abdisa Yilma stated that the institute is ready to continue to contribute technological results related to the mission in order to further strengthen the police's crime prevention and investigation capacity and to work so that other cities of our country can benefit from this kind of research. Commissioner Getu Argau, on his part, stated that he will use the results of the study as a resource for the commission's work in the future. He thanked the institute for its self-initiated efforts.
