The United Nations Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Digital Economy 2024 report, Shaping an environmentally sustainable and inclusive digital future, was presented.
Ambassadors of various countries, representatives of international organizations, ministers and speakers discussed the report on how to shape a sustainable and inclusive digital future in Africa. The report was presented by Mr. Sand Mba Kalu, Director General of International Trade and Trade Research of the United Nations Trade and Development Organization, and it was explained that the digitization journey of Africa's Digital Economy 2024 should focus on mitigating environmental security and climate challenges, ensuring generational justice and ensuring the economic prosperity of a country. . In the discussion, the Minister of State for Innovation and Technology, Dr. Yeshurun Alemayheu, said that this conference, organized under the principle of "shaping a sustainable and inclusive digital future for the environment in Africa", is not only a timely topic, but also an important one at a time when our continent is at the crossroads of digital transformation and sustainable development. Ethiopia's digital strategy is to support its digital transformation goals by paying special attention to economic growth, social development and climate change. Finally, it is stated that there is a need to strengthen digital policy frameworks and involve stakeholders from digital and local communities to accelerate the journey of the digital economy that has started and bring sustainable solutions to climate change.
