History

Established in December 1975 by proclamation No.62/1975 as a Science and Technology commission.

Science and Technology Commission (1975 -1994 )

The Commission was re-established in March 1994 by Proclamation No.91/1994.
Furthermore, the commission went into its 3rd phase of re-institution on the 24th of August 1995 by Proclamation No.7/1995 as Science and Technology Agency

Science and Technology Agency (1994-2008)

4th phase of re-institution on September 29, 2008 by proclamation No.601/2001 as a Ministry. After the year 2011 EC Ministry of Science and Technology changed into ministry of Innovation and Technology by combining the then Ministry of Science and Technology and Ministry of Communication and Information Technology.

The government merged the former Ministry of Science and Technology and the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to form the Ministry of Innovation and Technology in 2019.
