Regarding the digitalization of the financial sector
deposits of all banks has reached 2.5 trillion birr.
In the 2016 fiscal year, the overall credit allocation has been made for sectors that increase production and productivity, especially the credit given to the agriculture and manufacturing sectors has increased.
In addition to this, more than 461 billion birr loans have been distributed through the development of an inclusive financial system.
In terms of expanding digitalization, better performance is being seen in the financial sector. The number of mobile wallet users increased from 43.2 million in 2014 to 68.6 million in 2015 and 107.5 million in 2016.
The number of mobile banking users increased from 16.34 million in 2014 to 27.35 million in 2015 and 39.6 million in 2016. The total amount of money transferred through the digital system increased from 1.6 trillion birr in 2014 to 4.77 trillion birr in 2015. In the last 2016 fiscal year, it reached 9.6 trillion birr.
The digital sector has been shown to be particularly important in ensuring financial inclusion.
