5 million Ethiopian coders

The "5 million Ethiopian coders" initiative is a program that will help our youth to have the appropriate digital skills and create jobs and wealth to fuel the  digital economy.

Ethiopian coders initiative where five million citizens will benefit from digital technology training It was announced today by the Honorable Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed.
Speaking at the program, Dr. Belete Molla of the Ministry of Innovation and Technology said that the "5 Million Ethiopian Coders" initiative is a program that will help our youth to have the appropriate digital skills and create jobs and wealth to fuel the construction of a digital economy on a large scale.
The minister said that today, we have reached a new era where technology is not only a work tool but also a change agent.
The Minister also mentioned that the Ethio Coders program will equip young Ethiopians with the skills and knowledge to actively participate in the digital ecosystem, create new opportunities for them and open the door for our country to move forward in the field of technology.
He said that the Ethiocoders program shows the commitment of the government to empower our youth, develop creativity and use the huge potential of the digital age.
He said that one of the important foundations to ensure a digital Ethiopia is building the digital ecosystem and digital skills are an important starting point to use the economy and provide services in the construction of a digital economy.
"Coding is not just about writing lines of code. Coding is about problem solving, critical thinking and creativity." The minister said, "When we equip our youth with coding skills, they can confidently join the wider digital world and use applications created by others, but they can also benefit the country and make people's lives easier." He said that it is important to realize that the way is being facilitated for them to be able to develop many applications on their own.
