Ethiopia is participating in the 79th United Nations (UN) General Assembly which is being held in New York.

A Delegation of Ethiopia led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Taye Atskeselassie, is participating in the forum.

The Delegation includes Minister of Innovation and Technology Belete  Molla (Dr.), Minister of Education Berhanu Nega (Pr.) and Minister of Health Dr. Makdes Daba.

On the sidelines of the summit, Ambassador Taye Atskeselassie consulted with US Department of State Assistant Secretary for African Affairs Molly Fei, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yu, UN Assistant Secretary General for Peacebuilding and Political Affairs Rosemarie DiCarlo on bilateral and other common issues that require attention.

Also, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of South Sudan, Ramdan Mohamed Abdullah, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Algeria, Ahmed Ataf, held bilateral talks.

In addition, it is recalled that the Ambassador's speech at the Future Conference, which was an initiative of UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and attended by more than 140 heads of state, requested that the reform of the UN Security Council be done in a way that ensures the true representation of Africa.
