H.E Dr. Baysa Bedada, said that in our country electronic waste should not be a problem of our society, we should be careful in handling and dispersing it.
The Ministry of Innovation and Technology has held a three-day stakeholder forum with different institutions that are acting in the sector to have common awareness about electronic waste management and disposal.
The platform is aimed at creating a system for the disposal of electronic waste that is a big danger in the world and in our country.
State Minister of Innovation and Technology H.E Dr. Baysa Bedada said that electronic waste in our country contains dangerous substances that can penetrate deep into our soil and water system and it causes a huge danger to human health and our education.
The state Minister, said that we should prevent things that can cause danger to the life style of our society, has realized that in terms of science and technology, it is necessary to not only create innovation but also to ensure how sustainable and environmentally friendly are.
The state minister also said even though creating technology is a wealth, the balance should be maintained in the disposal of it should be maintained in order to develop a country that is suitable for all and equal use is guaranteed.
Ethiopian Digital Foundation and East African Regional l Network Project Director Mr. Tesema Geda have done a lot of work in the construction of digital and innovation schools that can boost the country's economy.
The Director said that electronic technology plays a crucial role in building a globally competitive digital economy. For the success of the country, we are working to create a system where domestic manufactured and imported electronic products are removed when they finish their service or have malfunction.
The Ministry of Education, Ministry of Women and Social Affairs, Federal and Addis Ababa Environmental Protection Authority, Ethiopian Standards Institute, Ethiopian Technology Authority, Ethiopian Communication Authority, Addis Ababa Cleaning Agency, National ID Program, Refugees and Migration Repatriation Service and other relevant entities participated.
Participants on the stage have stated that they are not only fulfilling their ongoing mission but also working on raising awareness.
