H.E Dr.Bayisa Bedada said,t he 23rd International Intellectual Property Day in Ethiopia is being celebrated with a theme "Music and Intellectual Property; Boosting/Accelerating Creativity
Dr. Bayisa Bedada, the state Minister of Innovation and Technology, who opened the program, said that innovation will play a major role in ensuring the development of technology.
The state Minister said that the legal procedure being implemented to protect intellectual property and copyright works is being implemented in a coordinated manner that creative professionals should develop the habit of registering their creations.
He stated that it is necessary to work in cooperation to enable new technologies and inventions to do their part for the development of the country and for the unity of the citizens. He said that the work of protecting rights should be continued strongly.
The state Minister explained that he is working to highlight its economic benefit by using creative products properly.
According to the Ethiopian Intellectual Property Authority Director Mr. Woldu Yemsele, the creative works have a significant contribution to the development of the country, job opportunities and technology expansion.
Among the creative sectors, music creation is a helpful tool for all the activities that are carried out in all fields.
The fact that Ethiopia is a country with many cultures, values and development creates a conducive situation for music production.
The government has also explained that it is developing a system to protect music and other innovations and increase their importance to the country.
In this way, the authorities have benefited from the actions that have been done by compiling the experience of countries, strengthening the coordination with the actors of the sector and making the registration and similar procedures supported by technology.
Instead of encouraging creative work, it is creating a convenient opportunity to highlight its economic benefit.
For example, it was able to carry out more than 5,000 registration and security work in the last year and said that it is working to increase it to 7,000 500 this year.
They added that this is creating a comfortable situation to modernize the sector, expand its reach and ensure the usefulness of creative professionals.
In the program that is being held for two days at the science museum, an exhibition of creative products has been opened and the participants and invited guests visited the exhibition.
