Innovation, Digital Economy and Information Technology joint task force has been established with development partners membership.
The task force includes development partners and other actors working in the sector and is under the national development partners infrastructure development team and helps the sector.
The program was organized by the Development Partners Working Group (DPG) on Innovation, Digital Economy and ICT sector. The Ministry of Innovation and Technology and the United Nations have jointly organized a Development Program.
In Ethiopia, in the discussion, projects to increase the capacity of the country through innovation, research and technology, developing and expanding the digital economy to increase its use, increasing productivity and competitiveness in technology supported industries, and strengthening administrative and control frameworks for innovation and technology have been discussed.
Minister of Innovation and Technology Dr. Yishirun Alemayehu has said that Innovation, Digital Economy and ICT Sector Joint Group (IDEI-SJWG) is playing a key role to increase the cooperation between government and development partners in developing the country's digital economy.
Minister Daetaw Ayazeum has stated that Ethiopia is working with determination to create a digital economy and that it is being worked on developing programs that will create job opportunities, boost national competitiveness and support sustainable economic growth.
Minister Dietaw said that the cooperation between the Ethiopian government and our development partners is crucial to achieve the achieved goals. This workshop will serve as a clear and comprehensive platform for policy discussion, coordination and fundraising to solve key challenges.
On the stage, the head of the Development Partners Working Group (DPG) Secretariat, Pau Blanker said that the working group should work in an organized manner to support the development of Ethiopia's digital economy, creation and ICT sector.
In order to create digital literacy, the country should work by following the plans and implementation of the plans and the government should give priority.
The workshop is expected to streamline donor relationships, promote best practices and align national policies with global development efforts.
Minister Dietaw said that the support of development partners is crucial for Ethiopia to become the leading digital economy in Africa. The government and its partners are now working on implementing concrete initiatives that encourage innovation, economic prosperity and digital inclusion across the country.
